Free app for Mac

Speak Swedish. Parlissima writes.

Parlissima turns your speech into text wherever you already write: in your email, your document or your chat with Claude. Click the penguin, speak and click again. It understands Swedish thanks to Klang Pianissimo and everything happens on your own computer.

For Macs with an M1 chip or later and macOS 14 or later. About 11 MB. The app is in Swedish.

The Parlissima penguin with glowing headphones while it listens

The penguin shows what is happening

You always know when it is listening. The headphones glow coral and a red dot pulses while you speak, a thought bubble appears while it writes and a check mark when the text is in place.

How to use it

1

Click the penguin

Put your cursor where the text should go and click. The penguin starts listening.

2

Speak as long as you like

An indicator at the top of the screen shows the sound wave and time while you speak.

3

Click again

The text is pasted where your cursor is. If you can't see it, it is on your clipboard, press ⌘V.

You can also hold the right ⌥ option or ⌃ control key and speak. Right-click the penguin for a menu with your recent dictations and your own vocabulary for names.

Install in a few minutes

  1. Download Parlissima with the button above and open Parlissima.dmg in your Downloads folder.
  2. Drag Parlissima to the Applications folder in the window that opens.
  3. Open Parlissima from Applications. The first time, your Mac says "Parlissima" can't be opened, because the app has not been reviewed by Apple. Click Done, not Move to Trash.
  4. Open System Settings and go to Privacy & Security. Scroll down and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.
  5. Follow the welcome window. Download Klang's speech model (about 690 MB, once), allow the microphone and turn on Parlissima under Accessibility.

Built with Klang Pianissimo

I built Parlissima so I could speak my texts in Swedish, right where I write. The name is a nod to Klang Pianissimo, Klang AI's Swedish speech recognition, which is what makes the app understand Swedish. You'll find more apps built with Pianissimo at klang.ai/pianissimo.

The app is free and shared as is. Speech recognition: Klang Pianissimo by Klang AI AB (CC BY 4.0), Core ML conversion by markstrom (CC BY 4.0) and FluidAudio (Apache 2.0). Parlissima is an independent app and is not made by Klang AI AB. The source code is open for developers on GitHub.
